Dear RSU 1 Staff and Families,

I am writing to inform you that both a member of the Bath Middle School and a member of the Morse High School community have tested positive for COVID-19. The individuals were in school during the period of infection/transmission. All those considered a close contact to the positive cases have been individually notified and, if necessary, excluded from school. As a reminder, those participating in pooled testing and those who are vaccinated do not need to quarantine even if they are a close contact to a positive case.

Upon learning of the confirmed positive tests, we implemented our response protocol. We must follow privacy laws and protect the confidentiality interests of every student and staff member, while also ensuring that we are protecting the health and well-being of all members of our school community.

We thank you for assisting us in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Wearing masks, getting vaccinated, if eligible, and signing up for pooled testing are the three most effective steps we can take to keep our schools open. It is not too late to sign up for weekly pooled testing and avoid the need to quarantine. If you would like to do so, please follow the sign-up steps on this pooled testing consent letter.  Also, as a reminder, if you have any low or high-risk symptoms, please stay home from school or work.

Questions for Bath Middle School can be directed to school nurse, Diana Hixon, by calling 207-443-8270 or emailing dhixon@rsu1.org.  Questions for Morse High School should be directed to principal, Eric Varney, at 443-8250 or emailing evarney@rsu1.org.  For general COVID-19 questions, dial 211 (or 1-866-811-5695).

Sincerely,
