CELEBRATIONS!

Great things are happening at WCS!

  •  Students have been receiving Woolwich Way Wow tickets when they are spotted helping our community by “following the Woolwich Way.” This week they earned enough tickets to reach their first goal- music at lunch, courtesy of DJ Dimbleby! Everyone enjoyed hearing some of their favorite tunes while they ate with their friends!

COLD WEATHER

Now that cold weather is upon us and snow is on the ground, we want to send out a reminder for students to bring in winter weather gear for recess. This includes snow pants, hats, mittens, boots and an extra mask. Masks get wet from condensation on cold days and an extra mask is needed to change into after they get back indoors.

 HEALTHY HIGHLIGHTS

First, Nurse Sherwood is calling you asking why your student is not in school and now it seems like she is asking you to keep the same student home for hardly any reason at all!  Oh, how each of you must be frustrated with me, with Covid...with life in general!  I want you to know that I understand and share all of your frustrations.  This is not an easy road we are being asked to travel.  I am convinced the more we support each other and try to hear each other, the stronger and safer we will be as a community.  I, your teachers, and all the administration want your student to be in school every single day they possibly can.  If they are hybrid and only come 2 days a week and miss one day that is 1/2 of your in school learning,  each and every day is important!

Please remember to do the "At Home Healthy Screening"  each day before sending your child to school.  (Yes you still should be checking temps every single day).  When you have questions please email or call me.  I begin looking at my e-mail generally by 5:00 am each day so I can answer your questions regarding whether you should send kids in or should they stay home. Keep up the good hygiene of hand washing, social distancing, and mask wearing.  I will share as soon as I know the availability of vaccines and know I will do all I can to help anyone who wants one get it,  adult or child. ~ Nurse Sherwood

MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL

Middle School Basketball is underway here at WCS! Coach Elwell and Coach Dalahanty are doing an amazing job following the new guidelines and the kids seem very happy to be back.  Starting next week, don’t forget that kids can attend practice every day. We are very excited to offer this opportunity for our middle school students.  Boys will always practice from 3:00-4:15 and the girls from 4:30-5:45.  Students will enter and exit the building through the back door of the Gym. As always, please reach out to Mr. Hutchings with any questions.
