                                      KINDERGARTEN NEWS

The kindergarten classes are once again collecting cans or boxes of food to support the WCS backpack/food bank program. Our goal is to collect 100 food items by the 100th day of school celebration on February 14th (unless there are any snow days!) The program could really use donations of boxes of cereal, peanut butter, pasta, or canned vegetables (no glass containers please.) Please send any donations to Mrs. Plummer’s or Mrs. Sample's classrooms. Thank you so much for helping the kindergarten students help others.

WOOLWICH CENTRAL NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC BEE

In January, nine Woolwich Central School students in grades 4-8 participated in the School Wide National Geographic Geography Bee. The bee was a culmination of grades 4-8 participating in classroom Geo Bees to determine a classroom winner.  Those winning their classroom bees and participating in the school wide bee were 4th grader Cameron Griffee, 5th graders Jackson Ambrose and Charli Ware, 6th Graders Ethan Wilson and Brady Chubbuck, 7th Graders Helen Robicheaw and Peter Holbrook, 8th Graders Heather Schutt, and Rory Garnett.    The School Winner was 6th Grader Brady Chubbuck, with 2nd Place taken by Peter Holbrook and 3rd Place by Jackson Ambrose. Winner Brady Chubbuck will take the state-wide online Bee questionnaire to try for a space at the State Bee Level in April.

EAT THE RAINBOW!!

Next week (2/10 - 2/14) will be our annual Eat the Rainbow Week. Students will get to try various fruits and vegetables throughout the week to promote healthy eating habits. A big thanks to the Wellness Committee and our PTA for all the hard work they put in that makes this week such a success. Students can dress in the color of the day if they’d like and the days will be as follows…

Monday - Orange/Yellow; Tuesday - Green; Wednesday - Blue/Purple;  Thursday - Red

Friday - Rainbow/Multi-Colored

THE AUCTION IS COMING!

The annual 8th Grade Auction is coming, April 6th! This is the big fundraiser that helps our kids get to Washington, D.C. in June! Our 8th graders are on the move, soliciting donations from area businesses, who are always incredibly generous. Are you interested in donating to this great event? Are you a gardener, or baker, for example, and would like to donate services? Please contact the office at 443-9739.
