CELEBRATIONS!

Great things are happening at WCS!

  • This Tuesday families came together for the 1st 8th Grade Auction meeting. Families will begin their work to collect donations for April’s Auction; proceeds from the auction support our 8th grade’s class trip to Washington, D.C. in the spring.

  • How wonderful it is when the community looks out for each other!  This week we had a shining example of that when a parent’s friend did a food drive at Portland Glass and our backpack program was on the receiving end of a BIG DONATION of that collected food.  We are SO THANKFUL!

KINDERGARTEN AND BEGINNING BAND CONCERT UPDATE

The date has changed for our Winter Concert and it will now be held on Wednesday, January 29th at 1:30 PM. This is an in-school performance and there will be no evening performance. If you plan to attend the concert and wish to dismiss your student immediately following the performance, please send in a note to let the office know who will be doing pick up. Then the day of the concert, please have that person check in with the office to complete the student check-out process. Thank you for your help and we hope you enjoy the show!

REQUEST FOR DONATIONS

Cold and flu season is upon us! That means lots of runny noses and germs. The specialists (Music, Art, Library, ect.) see all 375+ students each week which means we go through a lot of tissues and disinfecting wipes at this time of year. We would happily accept donations of these products! If you are sending in supplies for classroom teachers, please consider sending in some tissues and wipes for a specialist too. It's greatly appreciated!

HEALTHY HIGHLIGHTS

➩ We continue to see confirmed cases of the flu in children at school. Are you practicing good hand washing hygiene and covering all coughs by coughing into the bend in your arm (by your elbow)?

➩ We will be gathering information for folks who do NOT have a dentist for their students and wish them to be seen by the hydenist that comes here to school.  If you would like that to happen, and your child was not seen the last time, give the school a call and the nurse will follow up with the proper paperwork. (remember if you have MaineCare it is FREE!)

➩ If your student changes medicines/doses or stops medicine that they have been taking please notify the nurse.  It is most helpful if your health professional in the school is aware of these changes.

WINTER WEATHER CLOTHING

Please be sure your children have appropriate clothing for outdoor recess. We will be outside everyday for fresh air and exercise! If your child’s clothing (boots, coats, snow pants, etc.) is labeled with their name, we’ll be sure to keep it out of the lost and found!!
