Kimberly Burgess

RSU 1 is a proud partner of the Sagadahoc County Working Communities Challenge
"Connecting to Tomorrow" Initiative. Led by United Way of Mid Coast Maine, the Initiative is
working to increase youth hopefulness by supporting their career aspirations through
internships and convening of a regional Youth Action Board.

Thanks to grant funding, internships are paid, and students receive free transportation to
and from their host sites and Youth Action Board events. To date, nine Morse High school
students will complete Connecting to Tomorrow internships at Bath Pride, Brunswick
Escape Room, Elmhurst, MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital, RSU 1 Dining, Sustainable
Practice, and VCA Bath Animal Hospital.

In total, 23 students across the region will gain 760 hours of experience at 19 host sites—
incredible!

Thanks to the collective work of Maria Morris, Juliet Stone, and Katie Joseph at the District,
along with United Way, Bath-Brunswick-Topsham Regional Chamber, Brunswick School
Department, MSAD 75, Richmond Schools, MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital, Midcoast
Youth Center, City of Bath, Midcoast Maine Community Action, and Retail Association of
Maine.
