On Friday, November 7th, 9 RSU1 staff and students traveled to Thomas College to participate in Maine's first ever Green Schools Symposium. This event drew over 400 students, educators, and leaders from across the state to share knowledge, promote student engagement, and build a professional network. Nina Willette (Principal, Phippsburg Elementary School) presented work about her efforts to promote expeditionary, project-based climate education, and Micah Depper (teacher, Bath Middle School) co-led a workshop on organizing climate action committees in K12 schools. Also in attendance were Brent Luchies (BMS), Katie Smith (WCS), Kate Shearer (WCS), and four students who lead the Green Team at Bath Middle School.
