In our Life Skills class at Morse High School, the greenhouse has become a great tool for teaching science, math, and health. Students measure the depths of the plants, weigh the soil, and harvest seeds from the crops they planted the previous year. They have grown tomatoes, lettuce, green beans, and flowers, and have not only tasted the food themselves but also shared lettuce with the Morse cafeteria and sold produce to staff, with the money going back into our greenhouse fund. These experiences give students real-life practice with math skills while also learning what it takes to start and manage a small business.
