On Wednesday, February 6, RSU 1 and Patten Free Library will be offering the community the opportunity to see LIKE, a documentary on the societal impacts of social media. The movie will be shown in the Library’s second floor Community Room at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Director and Executive Producer Scilla Andreen was also involved in the production of Screenagers, which was shown in RSU 1 schools several years ago. In this film, Andreen acknowledges that technology is here to stay and social platforms can be a place to connect, share and care. However, Andreen uses facts and figures to try to show people how to recognize when it is time to step away from our devices. Her goal in making this film was to inspire people of all ages, especially kids, to self-regulate. In her words: “It’s not about blame. It’s about looking in the mirror and empowering ourselves to create balance in our lives and to learn to be there for each other.”
Space in the Community Room is limited. If you plan to attend, please register online or by visiting the Information Desk in the Reference Room at the Library. For more information on the movie, go to https://www.thelikemovie.com/.
