School Improvement Bond Referendum Update

Facilities Director Dave Richards stands beside two boiler furnaces in need of updating.

RSU 1 is continuing to move forward with the renovation bond for up to 5.2 million dollars that was approved by the voters in November of 2013. The majority of the work to address safety concerns and enhance the learning environment for our students will be completed this summer.

The Maine Department of Education announced recently that Morse High School has been placed on the State's priority list for state subsidized construction projects. Significant time may elapse before this project may receive funding, but the district has already begun working with Harriman Architects and Engineers to review the work items scheduled for Morse. Some items may be removed or revised in light of this funding development.

The list of tentative projects for the system may be found here
